Barbara Jordan

Barbara Jordan is a second generation Rossmorian. She moved to Rossmoor in 2006. She has two children and four grandchildren that live in Contra Costa County. As a fourteen year old Barbara was the youngest member of the 1952 Olympic Team and placed fifth in the 100meter backstroke. Her accomplishments in swimming include Five National hampionships , Sullivan Award nominee, All-American Swimming team, Pacific Association of the AAU outstanding athlete and many national and world records.
Barbara attended the University of California and returned to Cal to be the pioneering swimming coach of the Women’s NCAA Collegiate Swimming Team after the approval of Title IV in 1977. After coaching for two years, Barbara moved over to Wells Fargo Bank where she was in the Property Management for 18 years.
Over the years Barbara has served on many community and national boards as well as swum with the Walnut Creek Masters Swimming Team. Since moving to Rossmoor she has served as Membership Chairman, and Captain of the Rossmoor Niners Golf Club, Golf Advisory Committee, and Aquatic Advisory Committee. She is also representing Rossmoor on the organizing committee for the City of Walnut Creek Service Day. She is presently District B Representative to the Golden Rain Foundation Board of Directors of which she is Secretary.
Barbara loves to spend her time watching her four grandchildren growing up, swimming, golfing, reading and walking her Jack Russell Terrier, as well as working to make Rossmoor a better place to live for all Rossmorians.
